Project subtitle / summary
A Windows 8 CV builder app created during WOWZAPP Macedonia 2012 in Skopje. I participated in the Microsoft-organised hackathon and worked on the application using C# and Visual Studio 2012, exploring the Windows 8 platform and its Metro-style interface.
Duration
9–11 November 2012 — WOWZAPP Macedonia hackathon weekend.
Tech stack
C#, Visual Studio 2012, Windows 8.
Overview
In November 2012, I participated in WOWZAPP Macedonia in Skopje, part of WOWZAPP 2012: Worldwide Hackathon for Windows. The event brought developers together to create applications for Windows 8 during a focused hackathon weekend.

My project was CV Builder, a Windows 8 application centred on creating a personal CV. It gave me a practical opportunity to work with C#, use Visual Studio 2012 and explore an interface style that was closely associated with the new Windows platform.
This project represents an early hands-on development experience: taking an application idea into a hackathon environment and working within the time available to turn it into something tangible.
The Challenge
The challenge was to work on an application within the limited timeframe of the event while exploring Windows 8 development. A hackathon requires a different pace from a longer project: the idea needs to be focused enough to make progress during the weekend.
For CV Builder, the central task was to connect the idea of a CV-building application with the Windows 8 environment. Alongside the development work, the event provided an opportunity to encounter other approaches and learn in a shared setting.
My Role / Contribution
I attended WOWZAPP Macedonia as a hackathon participant and contributed to the development of CV Builder using C# and Visual Studio 2012.
My involvement focused on working on the application during the event and exploring how its interface could fit the Windows 8 Metro-style environment. The experience combined coding, experimentation and participation in a wider developer event.
Development Process / Approach
The work revolved around a focused application idea: a CV builder for Windows 8. Rather than treating the weekend as a full product-development cycle, the project served as a practical setting for exploring the platform and working on an application under a short deadline.
C# and Visual Studio 2012 provided the development environment. Windows 8 supplied the platform and the visual context for the interface.
For current language resources, see the official C# documentation.
The accompanying screenshots document the application, while photographs from the event provide context for my participation. Together, they show both the project and the environment in which it was created.

Results & Impact
The outcome was CV Builder, an application created during my participation in WOWZAPP Macedonia 2012. The project gave me a concrete example of working with Microsoft development tools in a hackathon setting.
Its value in my portfolio is the experience it documents: participating in a developer community event, exploring Windows application development and applying technical knowledge to a specific idea within a limited timeframe.
The application screenshots and participation photographs preserve that early stage of my development journey.

Key Metrics
- Event: WOWZAPP Macedonia 2012.
- Location: Skopje, Macedonia.
- Event dates: 9–11 November 2012.
- Project: CV Builder.
- Platform: Windows 8.
- Development tools: C# and Visual Studio 2012.
- Supporting material: Event photographs and application screenshots.
Lessons & Takeaways
The project illustrates the value of a focused idea when time is limited. Working within a hackathon weekend creates a practical reason to identify the central purpose of an application and keep development centred on it.
It also highlights how community events can create opportunities to explore unfamiliar tools and platforms through direct practice. For me, WOWZAPP provided that setting for Windows 8 development.
Looking back, CV Builder is a useful record of learning by building and participating in the developer community early in my career.
Design credit / scope note
CV Builder was created during my participation in WOWZAPP Macedonia 2012, a Microsoft-organised hackathon in Skopje. The project used C# and Visual Studio 2012 and explored the Windows 8 Metro-style interface.
This case study documents my participation and development work during the event. Microsoft, Windows and Visual Studio names and branding belong to their respective owners.
